How You Can Help

We receive no federal, state or local funding, and operate completely on donations.

We are also always in need of in-kind donations. Right now we are looking for the following: Paper towels, bleach, garbage bags, disposable latex gloves, postage stamps, ink cartridges (please call), a basic tool kit, kitty beds, and a working vacuum!

Emergency Funds

Donations to the Emergency Fund would help with those unexpected situations that we run into occasionally. Here are a few examples of those situations:

Jasmine is a 1 1/2 year old, female Shar Pei. She came to us with a condition called Entropion. This is a condition were the eyelids are turned in and the eyelashes rub on the eye ball. It's very painful and irritating for the dog. When Jasmine went in to be spayed, they also did the surgery for the Entropion. Now she is happy and healthy but it came with a price. $347.89!!!

Chester is a 4 year old, male Lhasa Apso. Chester started to act funny after being here a day or two. We noticed that he wasn't eating and any water he drank, he threw up. We took him to the vet and after some x-rays, they discovered he had a bowel obstruction. He had to stay overnight and get some medicine to try to make it pass. It passed sometime in the middle of the night thank goodness.

While Chester was at the clinic, they had to give him a teeth cleaning and noticed that he had a growth on his gums also. It had to be removed as it was painful for him to eat. The cost of all this was $296.66.

The adoption fee for each of these animals was $100.00. They have been adopted but unfortunately the adoption fee doesn't touch the vet bill!

Volunteering

We are currently looking for a few good volunteers! We desperately need volunteers for home visits!! If you are interested in doing some home visits for us, PLEASE call the shelter 362-1636 and talk to Jennifer.

If you would like to volunteer at our shelter, help with public events, fundraising, public relations, etc., you will be giving the greatest gift of all: your time and love. We always need loving people to come play with and socialize the wonderful animals every day. Please contact us using the phone number and email address provided below.

We have some special projects on our to-do list: painting, building and maintaining wild bird houses, landscaping and tree trimming, building planter boxes and planting flowers, repairing fencing and installing outdoor lighting.
